GUILLERMO TORRENS & MARIA MARAGAKI

Guillermo Torrens is Argentinean dancer & teacher with many years of experience in dancing and teaching. His career includes rich studies in Argentine Tango taught by re-known maestros in Argentina such Orlando Paiva, Claudio Omar, Maria Veronica.  In 2002  he moved to Buenos Aires  to study with teachers such as the “Maestro de Maestros” Raul Bravo along with Angela Ruth Manonellas, Silvio Lavia and Mimi Santapa and Ballet taught by Liliana Belfiore.  Following these important studies his career continued with outstanding work of performing on stage and as a teacher. He has performed at places such as Teatro Colon, Confiteria Ideal, Cafe Tortoni and his performing career expands to many countries around the world.  He has appeared on TV shows such as "This Morning" and the "Classic Brits Awards 2012" at the Royal Albert Hall dancing the music of Miloš Karadagliz.  

 

Maria Maragaki has had a passion for the performing arts since early childhood. Her dancing career started in 1981 when she focused on classical dance and through the years was enriched with the study and performing of Greek dancing and flamenco until she discovered Argentine Tango. Since then she has undergone training by well-known dancers and teachers in Europe and Argentina such as Raul Bravo. Maria holds a degree in classical music which allows her to analyse and help her students to understand how to interpret music through dance. For more than a decade Maria has been successfully performing and teaching Argentine Tango, Flamenco, Greek dancing and music in and outside UK.

 

Maria & Guillermo have won two LUKAS awards for 2 years in a row in the categories: "Tango Performers Of The Year" and "Tango Teachers Of The Year" (2011) and "Tango Performers Of The Year" and "Tango Teachers Of The Year" (2012). Guillermo was dancer at the Midnight Tango show with performances at London East End and at numerous cities in UK for the national tours for all 3 seasons (2011-2013) while Maria joined the show’s national tour in 2011. They both appear in the "Midnight Tango" DVD released in 2011. One of their latest projects includes performances for the national tour of internationally re-known tango singer Martin Alvarado. Maria & Guillermo are well established teachers and performers with more than 15 years of experience and international career in teaching and performing with their work including small groups and individuals as well as Festivals, shows and milongas.

GABRIEL MARINO & VASIA THANOPOULOU

Gabriel Marino came to Greece from his native Argentina in 2008, bringing with him a wealth of experience in Argentine tango.

In 2011 he was crowned European Champion in the European competition (Turin, Italy) representing Greece and was a finalist in the world competition at the Buenos Aires tango salon twice.

He has had the honor to dance in some of the best theatres in the world such as Teatro Colon de Buenos Aires ( 2002 & 2004), Palais de Versailles (Tangokinesis), Herodion, as well as in various Casas de Tango. He was a member of the Compañia Tango-Malambo.

He formed "El Abrazo" to 2012 with the idea of creating a space dedicated to authentic tango as danced and taught in Argentina.

Vassia Thanopoulou started to work with Tango in 2009.

She has been teaching since 2012 and has presented her work all over Greece as well as at the Zotto Academy in Milan. She has participated in the theatre performance Tango Brujo with Sebastian Misse-Andrea Reyero.

 

In 2016 Gabriel and Vassia made their first appearance as a dance couple at the Herodeion with Mora Godoy.

In 2017 they were members of the Tangueros del Sur company where they presented the performance Romper el Piso at the Herodion Theatre under the direction of Natalia Hills.

In 2018, being now members of the ensemble, they travelled around Greece giving performances all over Greece.

In August 2018 they were in Buenos Aires giving shows as guests in various Milongas.

In 2018 they once again had the honor to dance at the Herodesio with the Tangueros del Sur company in the presence of the legendary Amelita Baltar in the first world's first choreographed opera Maria de Buenos Aires.

GIORGOS LINARDATOS  &  PEGGY DADAKI

Peggy was lucky enough to connect from a very young age with Rallou Manou and to study classical ballet, before ending up in 2006 in Argentina where Tango became her great love...

A student of the great teacher Rodolfo Dinzel, she works on the techniques of improvisation, couple communication, authenticity of movement, so that the dance acquires dynamism, purity, imagination, sensation, bringing out the personality of each student.

Together with her partners she created Catedral, a school of Argentine Tango in Athens, with the signature of CETBA (Universidad del Tango, Centro Educativo del Tango de Buenos Aires), teaching as a representative of Dinzel International in Greece.  

She gives seminars in Greece and abroad. She has participated in festivals in Greece, Spain and Argentina, as well as in international Tango performances.

 

 

George started to work with tango in the distant 2004.  Since 2010 he has been working on improvisation, musicality and dynamics of movement.

He is interested in the history of Argentine Tango, its culture and philosophy, which he successfully transmits in Patras. Thus, in 2015 he became co-owner of the dance school El Conventillo in Patras, where he has been giving classes for the last few years.

With his partners he delivers seminars in tango festivals and tango weekends in many cities in Greece and abroad, as well as participates in tango performances.
